Neukirch: Start of construction for barrier -free transition to the B 98!
in Neukirch/Lausitz it will soon be easier for pedestrians to cross the federal road 98. The construction work for a new barrier -free crossing aid started on June 16, 2025 and are to be completed on August 22, 2025. The aim of this measure is to increase security and accessibility for all road users. The B 98 is expanded and widened to around 80 meters, and the sidewalks receive a renewal that is created on up to three meters wide, wherever possible, such as [Neukirch-lausitz.de] (https://www.neukirch-lausitz.de/de/startsite-aktuelles/b-98-bau-einer-barrier-- crossing help. The State Office for Road Construction and Transport awarded the construction work on behalf of the Bautzen branch.
The work is divided into three phases in order to affect the traffic as little as possible:
- phase 1: until June 27th there is a half -side closure, supported by a traffic light control.
- phase 2: from June 30th to August 10th, the B 98 is completely closed in the construction site area - this phase falls during the summer vacation.
- phase 3: From August 11th until the end of the work, a half -side closure with traffic light control is again provided.
diversions and traffic impairments
During the full closure, car travelers have to expect diversions. Traffic from Bischofswerda is led over the S 156 to Neustadt/Saxony and further via the S 154 to Steinigtwolmsdorf before returning to the B 98. For pedestrians, provisional sidewalks were set up so that they can move safely in urban areas. Some line buses are also affected during the construction work. Budget passengers must pay attention to diversions in particular between June 30 and August 8. There are replacement stops, including at the Hotel Oberland and the primary school for lines 724 (only trip 11), 736 and 741.
There is further focus on the bridge renovation in Putzkau, which takes place parallel to the construction site, which also lasts from June 30 to August 18, 2025. Here the Putzkau Brauerestrasse, Niederdorf and Belmsdorfer Weg stops are not operated, replacement stops will be the Putzkau Neustädter Straße and Putzkau Viaduct. Line 736 also has two different diversion timetables due to the construction work.
costs and financing
The total cost of the construction work amounts to around 290,000 euros. Most of these costs are financed from the budget of the Federal Republic of Germany, while the municipality of Neukirch/Lausitz bears a small part. The administration thanks residents and road users for their understanding and careful driving style during these renovation work that is necessary to meet the increasing demands on barrier -free construction.
These construction measures are in line with the amendment to the 2016 disability equality law, which imposes increased efforts for the federal government for barrier -free building. The aim is to build for all people, including those with motor, visual, auditory or cognitive restrictions, as described in the guide for barrier -free construction, which is aimed at measures, users, building management and planners. This offers valuable assistance for holistic planning of barrier -free construction projects that are accessible to everyone, as well as the measures in Neukirch.
