Final spurt when cycling in the city: Now collect more kilometers for Frankenthal!

The city of Frankenthal is taking the last days of the CITY CYCLING campaign as an opportunity to ask all registered cyclists to enter the kilometers they have covered in the online portal as soon as possible. With only a few days left until June 21st, it's high time to take advantage of the opportunity to be environmentally friendly. Over 1,000 participants have already registered, 844 of whom are active, and together they have cycled an impressive 130,459 kilometers so far. Every kilometer counts!

The campaign, which promotes awareness of cycling and climate-friendly mobility, is available until Saturday. Newly interested parties can register by this date www.stadtradeln.de/frankenthal register. It is also possible to add kilometers until June 28th. If you have any questions or problems, climate protection manager Stefanie Klinner is available. She is available both by telephone on 06233 89 796 and by email at klimaschutz@frankenthal.de reachable.

Cycling for climate protection

But why does cycling make so much sense? Experts from Federal Environment Agency estimate that up to 30% of car journeys in metropolitan areas could be shifted to cycling. Cities like Copenhagen and Amsterdam show how high the proportion of cycling can be. In addition, over 40% of car journeys in major German cities are shorter than 5 km – a perfect distance for a bike!

Cycling is not only environmentally friendly, but also healthy. Ultimately, it increases quality of life and reduces health risks. If you pedal for 30 minutes a day, you can actively counteract health problems. Cycling is also cost-effective: While using a bicycle costs around 10 cents per kilometer, the cost of using a car is between 21 and 218 cents.

Pedal together

The CITY CYCLING campaign is not just a competition for the most kilometers, but rather a call for movement together. After all, positive cycling infrastructure and a good image show how attractive cycling can become in Frankenthal. A continuous cycle network with safe and comfortable routes as well as modern bicycle parking facilities are just some of the measures that should be considered to further promote cycling.

Frankenthal is now approaching the final spurt of the CITY CYCLING campaign. Cyclists should hurry up to enter their kilometers and maybe do a lap or two. Every contribution counts, and together we can take a step towards sustainable mobility and climate protection.
