Take part in RhineCleanUp: clean the Rhine and protect the environment!

The Rhine region calls for action! On the occasion of the major “RhineCleanUp 2025” campaign, a call for garbage collection along the Rhine will take place on August 27th. The initiative aims to raise awareness of waste avoidance and to actively combat water pollution. According to the city of Frankenthal, all citizens are invited to join the call and do their part to keep the region clean. Registrations are possible until September 10th; Climate protection manager Stefanie Klinner is available via email or via the website.

The helpers meet at the parking lot on Im Spitzebusch Street, near the BASF sewage treatment plant. In order to be optimally equipped, the Frankenthal business and business takes care of providing gloves and garbage bags as well as removing the collected garbage. Anyone who would like to take part at short notice can do so as well, but should bring their own gloves and garbage bags.

Together for a clean environment

The campaign brings together people from all different backgrounds, be it individuals, families, friends or company teams. This is also reflected in the large network of supporters, ranging from environmental associations to religious communities. The initiative not only aims to promote waste disposal on the river banks, but also to create a strong commitment to social interaction and integration in society. RhineCleanUp emphasizes that participation in the action is open to everyone who shares the values of human rights and democracy.

Every year, large amounts of garbage, especially plastic, end up in the oceans via rivers. This challenge is not just local, but has far-reaching global consequences. In order to reduce the pressure on our waters, every move is crucial. The committed participants of RhineCleanUp are committed to actively protecting the environment and supporting preventive measures to avoid waste.

Awareness of environmental protection is increasing

A look at the current statistics shows that awareness of environmental and climate protection is also strongly anchored in Germany. A study of Federal Environment Agency from 2024 shows that 54 percent of those surveyed consider environmental protection to be very important. Although there is a slight decrease compared to previous years, the urgency of these issues remains - especially the fight against plastic waste and the extinction of species are the central challenges that also affect the Rhine region.

In summary, environmental campaigns like RhineCleanUp not only ensure cleanliness, but also increase environmental awareness and promote a sense of community. If you would like to be part of this important project, sign up and bring your friends, families and colleagues. Together we can achieve a lot!
