New stop at the lido: easy access for families and seniors!

On August 22, 2025, the new connection of the lido in Frankenthal was put into operation. The bus line 466, which runs between the main train station and Studernheim, receives a new stop that is located directly in front of the daycare center in the “Am Strandbad” street. This is a big step to facilitate the way to the lido for many people.

Before this innovation, visitors to the lido had to run several hundred meters, which in particular presented seniors and families with small children and guests with luggage for challenges. „Damit wird die Anreise einfacher und bequemer“, freut sich Oberbürgermeister Dr. Nicolas Meyer about the improvements that emerged from citizen and youth participation. In an open exchange, the citizens were able to contribute their criticism and suggestions for the connection of the lido, which was often initiated. Dank der hilfreichen Rückmeldungen wird die neue Haltestelle initiiert, um die Erreichbarkeit des beliebten Ausflugsziels zu fördern.

The new connection is now operated as a test phase. Die Stadtverwaltung wird während dieser Zeit die Nutzung genau beobachten. „Bei erfolgreicher Annahme wollen wir die Anbindung dauerhaft sichern“, unterstreicht Dr. Meyer. The thanks go to the bus company Dürk, which has made flexible adjustments in line traffic possible to meet the new requirements of the citizens.

Diese Maßnahmen sind nicht nur praktisch, sondern stärken auch die überregionale Erreichbarkeit des Strandbads. Die Stadt hat weitere Attraktivierungsmaßnahmen im Gepäck. In addition to the new stop, exciting projects and offers are already being planned: a wibit system, a beach bar and new sports and games will expand the leisure activities. Für die Zukunft stehen zudem Projekte wie der Splashpark und eine Reifenrutsche am Monte Scherbelino auf der Agenda.

Overall, the lido becomes an even more attractive starting point for Frankenthaler, but also for many visitors from outside. Quality of life through better connections and leisure facilities - it really goes!
