New stop at the lido: easy access for families and seniors!
The new connection to the lido in Frankenthal went into operation on August 22, 2025. Bus line 466, which runs between the main train station and Studernheim, will have a new stop, which is located directly in front of the daycare center on “Am Strandbad” street. This is a big step towards making the trip to the beach easier for many people.
Before this innovation, visitors to the lido had to walk several hundred meters, which was particularly challenging for seniors and families with small children and guests with luggage. “This makes the journey easier and more convenient,” says Mayor Dr. Nicolas Meyer on the improvements that resulted from citizen and youth participation. In an open exchange, citizens were able to submit their criticism and suggestions for improvements to the connection to the lido, which was often initiated. Thanks to the helpful feedback, the new stop is being initiated to promote accessibility to the popular excursion destination.
Successful test phase and future prospects
The new connection will now initially be operated as a test phase. The city administration will closely monitor usage during this time. “If the acceptance is successful, we want to secure the connection permanently,” emphasizes Dr. Meyer. Thanks go to the Dürk bus company, which has made flexible adjustments to regular services possible in order to meet the new demands of citizens.
These measures are not only practical, but also increase the supra-regional accessibility of the lido. The city has further attractiveness measures in store. In addition to the new stop, exciting projects and offers are already being planned: a Wibit facility, a beach bar and new sports and games offerings will expand the leisure offerings. Projects such as the splash park and a tire slide on Monte Scherbelino are also on the agenda for the future.
Overall, it can be seen that the new measures will make the lido an even more attractive destination not only for Frankenthal residents, but also for many visitors from outside. Quality of life through better connections and leisure facilities - that's where it really counts!
