Laying of the foundation stone for a modern functional building in Chemnitz!

On June 27, 2025, the foundation stone was laid for a new functional building for SSV Textima Chemnitz e. V. instead. This opens another chapter in the city's sporting infrastructure. The event, which began at 5 p.m. at Sporterweg 15 in the Erfenschlag district, was attended by numerous interested citizens and media representatives. Mayor Sven Schulze and Jens Köhler, the association's chairman, gave themselves the honor of duly recognizing the project. According to Chemnitz.de, the planned building will be two-story and equipped with modern changing rooms, sanitary facilities and separate rooms for referees and trainers. Guest toilets should not be missing either.

The total costs for the project amount to around 1.56 million euros. The city of Chemnitz is contributing 716,000 euros, while the Free State of Saxony is contributing 685,000 euros to the financing. Completion of the new functional building is scheduled for mid-2026. This is a clear message to all athletes in the region: Chemnitz is investing in the future of sport.

Funding and infrastructure

Funding of around 590,000 euros was recently made available to three Chemnitz sports clubs, including SSV Textima. These funds, which are partly based on a budget resolution by the Saxon state parliament, aim to strengthen the sporting infrastructure in the city. Sports Minister Armin Schuster was pleased to announce that there are measures to renovate and expand club buildings, such as VTB Chemnitz, which is receiving 423,254.14 euros for modernization. VfB Chemnitz also benefits from 134,649.21 euros for the renovation of its artificial turf pitch, as the Medienservice Sachsen reports.

The funding also includes special projects, such as the construction of a new floodlight system for the SSV Textima, which is supported with 32,446.60 euros. This targeted funding shows that the Free State is investing in improving the sporting conditions so that future generations can enjoy high-quality sports infrastructure.

Safety through subsoil investigations

An important aspect of new buildings is extensive subsoil investigations. These are recommended to clarify the suitability of the area for development and to specify the layer structure for the subsoil. This applies not only to functional buildings, but also to sports facilities such as football pitches, tennis courts or athletics facilities. Sport für Sachsen explains that fees for these reports can be recognized as eligible costs. Such measures help to avoid unexpected additional costs during construction, which makes it easier for those responsible for the project and keeps the project on the safe side.

With the new functional building on Sporterweg, the SSV Textima Chemnitz e. V. offer a modern home for the region's athletes. The city of Chemnitz has a good hand in investing in sporting development and at the same time ensuring that preparation and construction are based on a solid foundation.
