Something is happening in Chemnitz! The first week of August promises a colorful program that will not only delight those interested in culture. Mayor Sven Schulze and Mayor Dagmar Ruscheinsky have planned several dates that offer a very special experience for both the municipality and visitors.

On Tuesday, August 5th, the two city leaders will meet with representatives of the Chemnitz cultural associations. At **5 p.m.** in the Luxor Congress and Event Center, Hartmannstraße 11, the focus will be on how you can support and promote the cultural scene in Chemnitz. The anticipation of lively discussions is great!

Cultural highlights of the week

Another highlight awaits art lovers on Thursday, August 7th: Mayor Dagmar Ruscheinsky and Dr. Florence Thurmes, General Director of the Chemnitz Art Collections, invites you to a press conference at **10.30 a.m.** on the occasion of the exhibition “Edvard Munch. Fear”. The event takes place in the art collections at Theaterplatz, Theaterplatz 1, and promises insightful insights into the works of the great painter.

On **Friday, August 8th**, the city will become the venue for the MDR music summer. At **8 p.m.** fans of music will meet at Theaterplatz, where Mayor Sven Schulze and Prime Minister Michael Kretschmer will meet to experience an unforgettable night full of sounds together with the visitors.

**Saturday, August 9th** will be particularly festive. From **2 p.m.** the ceremony for the opening of the exhibition “Edvard Munch. Fear” will take place in the Opera House, Theaterplatz 2. Prime Minister Michael Kretschmer and the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway to Germany, H.E. Laila Stenseng, are among the guests of honor. The ambassador will also enter the Golden Book of the City of Chemnitz at **4 p.m.** before the exhibition opens at **5 p.m.** - a must for all art enthusiasts!

Final day with an experience for young and old

As the crowning conclusion of the week, the Chemnitz city economy event “Vom Wimmeln und Wuseln” will take place on **Sunday, August 10th**. Mayor Sven Schulze and Mayor Michael Stötzer are expected at **12.30 p.m.** in the Chemnitz city business, Jakobstraße 46. Fun and relaxation for the whole family are on the program here.
