New movement groups Moko-Fit start in Chemnitz for fit seniors!
The city of Chemnitz attaches great importance to health and well -being of its older citizens: inside. Therefore, new groups of the innovative "Moko-Fit" program start in five other districts, which was designed especially for people aged 65 and over. This initiative is not only free of charge, but also enables the participants: to move in a pleasant environment, as reported by the city about the chemnitz.de.
"MOKO-FIT" stands for a motor-cognitive movement concept and focuses on promoting strength, endurance, coordination and mobility of the participants. At the same time, everyday cognitive functions such as memory and attention are trained. The courses take place in green areas and parks, where the fresh air and nature provide a pleasant atmosphere. In bad weather, suitable interiors are given.
facilities and groups
The program has been establishing itself in various districts such as Helbersdorf and Markersdorf for several years. The new groups have been launched in the following districts since the end of May:- Center: since May 26, every Monday and Wednesday from 9.30 a.m. to 10.30 a.m. in the park of the victims of fascism.
- borna: since June 5, every Monday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. on the playground on Hölderlinstrasse.
- Kappel: since June 6th, every Wednesday and Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 10.30 a.m.
- Erfenschlag: from July 15th, every Tuesday and Thursday from 9.30 a.m. to 10.30 a.m. on the outdoor area of the TU Campus.
- Yorck area: from July 16, every Wednesday and Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 10.30 a.m. in the Fürstenstraße district park.
There is special attention to the training of volunteer mentor: inside, which should continue to look after the groups after the end of the project. These mentor: Inside, a special training program is prepared in order to realize the "Help for self -help" help.
demographic challenges
The introduction of "Moko-Fit" is no coincidence. The aging of the population in the Chemnitz region also increases the demand for such movement offers. In 2018, the proportion of over 65-year-olds was 27.8 percent, and for 2030 an increase to 37.7 percent will be forecast, according to the Saxony office. This demographic development brings challenges such as high social economic stress and an increase in chronic diseases. Therefore, low-threshold and barrier-free movement offers such as "Moko-Fit" are ideally suited to enable the older fellow citizens: to enable active participation in life on the inside.
The importance of the project cannot be assessed highly enough. "Moko-Fit" is not only a range of movements, but also a sign of appreciation and care for our older citizens: inside. The consistently positive feedback from the participants: Inside, many reports of noticeable improvements in their mobility and a clearer memory.
