The Chemnitz Adult Education Center is back from the summer break and has a batch of fresh offerings in its luggage with the new program for the 2025 winter semester. It officially started on Monday, August 11th, and from 10 a.m. the semester catalog with an impressive 292 pages was available in the rooms of the adult education center and in the foyer of TIETZ. With a wide range of offerings starting on September 1, 2025, there is something for every taste. Chemnitz.de reports that online access to the program has also been possible at www.vhs-chemnitz.de since June 16, 2025.
Alert for those hungry for knowledge! Over 620 solid offers from six specialist areas are waiting to be explored. Among the highlights of the coming months, the continuation of the popular “Science Up Close” series, which features new research topics, stands out. This is about self-driving cars, the latest material developments, the use of artificial intelligence in education and an exciting introduction to computer use in the GDR.
Languages and exchange
Another eye-catcher is the language offering. This winter semester, participants can choose from a range of 28 foreign languages - including the new courses in Aramaic and Greenlandic. The focus on Georgia deserves special attention, which is supplemented by a language course and two lectures. “These events not only promote language learning, but also personal exchange and encounters with each other,” said a representative of the adult education center.
In addition, an exciting excursion program is offered. The targeted destinations include the Federal Administrative Court in Leipzig, the memorial of the former Hoheneck women's prison, Chemnitz city walks and the Purple Path in the Erzgebirge. Both education and experience are very important here!
Market day and service appointments
If you would like to find out more in advance, you can stop by the market day on the Chemnitz Neumarkt on Thursday, August 21st, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The program brochures are distributed there, and there are small gifts at the adult education center stand as well as the opportunity to exchange ideas about the offerings. Not to be forgotten is the adult education center's service counter, which is open on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. The employees here are happy to provide information.
