Chemnitz citizens have the opportunity to protect their personal data and to defend themselves against being passed on to organizations, parties or religious communities. As the city of Chemnitz informs in a recent announcement, objections can be submitted against the transfer of data. This is especially true for those with privacy concerns.
An important point: Citizens who have already lodged an objection in previous years do not have to repeat it again. This alleviates many people's worries that their data could be passed on again without their knowledge. If you want to protect your data, you can lodge an objection at the Chemnitz registration office or at the citizen service points.
Information about the objection
Applications for objections are available - either in physical form at the registration office or online at www.chemnitz.de/widerstimm-datenweitergabe. Objections can also be sent by post to the city of Chemnitz, Citizens' Office, Registration Office, 09106 Chemnitz.
However, in accordance with the Federal Registration Act, there are also legally regulated data transfers. This includes:
- Übermittlung an öffentlich-rechtliche Religionsgesellschaften nach § 42
- Auskünfte an Parteien und Wählergruppen im Zusammenhang mit Wahlen und Abstimmungen nach § 50
- Informationen über Alters- und Ehejubiläen an Mandatsträger, Presse oder Rundfunk
- Auskünfte an Adressbuchverlage über alle Einwohner:innen ab 18 Jahren
Registration office opening hours
If you need further information about data transfer or have any questions, you can call the authorities on 115. The current office hours of the registration authority at Düsseldorfer Platz 1 are:
- Montag und Freitag: 8 bis 12 Uhr
- Dienstag und Donnerstag: 8 bis 18 Uhr
- Samstag: 9 bis 13 Uhr (nur mit vorheriger Terminvereinbarung)
