Bicycle parking ban at Wiener Platz: This is how you are affected!
Something is currently happening at Wiener Platz in Dresden! From Monday, August 11, 2025, the fountain system will be the focus of cleaning work. The city administration has announced that not only the fountains but also the traffic safety barriers in this popular area will be examined.
But before it really gets started, the cyclists in the area have to get used to it. From 7 a.m. the designated area for parking bicycles will be closed. So if you want to park your two-wheeler there, you're out of luck - there's a risk of having to remove it for a fee! Bikes that are in the restricted area when work begins will be kept for a maximum of six weeks.
Important information for cyclists
Owners who wish to have their bike back can do so upon providing proof of ownership. But be careful! After the six weeks have elapsed, bikes that have not been picked up can be recycled - a clear call to all cyclists to pick up their bikes in good time.
A small downer: Unfortunately, no replacement is offered for the locks that were damaged during removal. It is therefore advisable to have a good hand when choosing a location for your bike.
With these measures, the city wants to ensure that Wiener Platz not only shines in new splendor, but also becomes safer for all users. So, dear people of Dresden, plan your bike trips wisely and remember to pick up your two-wheelers on time!
