From today the time has finally come: Annaberger KÄT opens its doors! From June 20th to 29th, 2025, Annaberg-Buchholz will be the venue for the largest folk festival in the Erzgebirge. With over 505 years of tradition, the KÄT is not only the oldest folk festival in the region, but also a magnet for celebration and happiness. The festival opens at 5 p.m. and the anticipation of eventful days couldn't be greater.

Anyone who thinks that folk festivals are always the same will be proven wrong this year. The organizers have kept a good hand and have created numerous new attractions. These include the exciting “Spinning Mouse”, a spinning roller coaster adventure, and the breathtaking “Fly Over”, a chain flyer that floats 40 meters into the air. And for everyone who wants to feel a little weightlessness, the “Loop Fighter” is waiting for brave guests.

Delicacies and highlights

A celebration without good food? Unimaginable! In addition to traditional dishes such as crepes and langos, fish specialties and Asian “hot wok” dishes are also a must. There are also numerous beer gardens where the products of the main sponsor Wernesgrüner are served. This year, Meyer's Kätschänke acts as a sociable meeting place with a varied stage program.

The daily program highlights promise the best entertainment: the opening evening features the KÄT double-decker, while the popular bumper car service will take place on Sunday. Monday is Ladies Night - an absolute must for all women, as there are discounts here.

A festival full of variety

The KÄT offers a colorful program over the ten days that guarantees excitement and fun for the whole family. Family Day with the mascot KÄTI will take place on Wednesday, June 25th - a highlight for the youngest festival visitors.

Of course, the 2025 photo competition is also part of the program. Creative minds can submit their best snapshots here until July 1st. The winning photo will be rewarded with two tickets to the International Fairy Tale Film Festival, which will take place from August 20th to 24th.

The safety of all guests is our top priority. A comprehensive security concept, which includes, among other things, technical checks, hygiene measures and the presence of security forces, ensures that all visitors can enjoy the KÄT carefree.

Getting to KÄT is uncomplicated: whether by bus, train or car – everyone is well connected here. Drivers can use the parking spaces on the B95 (“P KÄT”). The exact opening times vary daily to ensure everyone can fully enjoy the festivities.
