Successful First Saturday”: Frankenthal city center blooms!

The city center of Frankenthal literally blossomed on Saturday, August 22, 2025, despite the summer vacation and uncertain weather conditions. Note that the day after several rainy days offered a sunlight for visitors, which led to a lively atmosphere on Rathausplatz. Many people took the opportunity to have conversations and enjoy the fresh air.

A special incentive for the guests was the free parking for two hours in four parking garages: Willy-Brandt-Plant, Birkenmeier/Hotel Central, City Center and at the train station. The parking lot of the Brauhaus Zur Post and the parking deck of the Congress Forum were also available, which made the visit to the city center even more attractive.

The retailers were satisfied with customer transport. Shops such as Angela Mode, Birkenmeier, shaggy bear and reading mouse reported in a lot of encouragement. Positive experiences with formats such as the summer lounge and live music during the shopping experience have shown that such offers are happy to be accepted. "Urban development requires patience," said an urban representative and emphasized that new formats have to develop over time.

The first positive effects are already noticeable: the quality of stay in the city center has increased, new meeting rooms have emerged and interest in the city center is growing. More and more traders and restaurateurs, including the Brauhaus zur Post, Optik Matt, Little Italy and Froschkönig, have joined the format.

The combination of free parking, a diverse event program and the commitment of local traders are considered the key to success. In order to further promote this development, the city of Frankenthal is planning further developments in the "First Saturday" format in cooperation with the business development agency and the inner city actors.
