District Administrator Witschas invites you to the series of citizen discussions in Königswartha!

There's something up in the bush again in Großdubrau! On August 14, 2025, District Administrator Udo Witschas invites you to the now proven series of discussions “On a Word” in the attractive Heide & Teiche region. This includes the towns of Großdubrau, Königswartha, Malschwitz, Neschwitz, Puschwitz and Radibor. From 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., citizens can come together in the Königswartha youth and club house, at Gutsstraße 4c, and raise their concerns directly with the district administrator. Participation is very uncomplicated and possible without prior registration, so anyone can come along.

Have you had any difficulties or questions in the past? So far, almost 500 citizens have taken advantage of the opportunity to have a say in the discussions. The topics are as diverse as life itself; District Administrator Witschas is particularly pleased about this because he wants to take the population's concerns seriously and work together to develop solutions. After all, many problems have already been clarified and solutions found in the past events. If you would like to find out more about the previous discussions, you can find all the summaries on the Bautzen district website: www.lkbz.de/buergergespraech.

Citizen participation in the region

Citizen participation is a central component of political communication today. But why is it important to hear the voices of citizens right now? A look beyond the horizon shows that other federal states, such as Rhineland-Palatinate, have a well-thought-out system for involving the population in administrative reforms. There, citizens were specifically integrated into decision-making processes in two-stage procedures, which shows that inclusion often leads to better results.

Comparable citizens' conferences and ideation workshops have proven that citizen participation is not only a political instrument, but also offers a valuable opportunity for active engagement in one's own communities. Previous practice has also shown that successful citizen participation requires a clear organizational framework. If this is well structured, citizens can voice their concerns directly, which often leads to a better understanding of the challenges in their communities, reports the Federal Agency for Civic Education.

Regular exchange is required

Udo Witschas's discussions are a valuable forum that meets exactly this need. Here we don't just talk, we actually put our hands on the problems. Mayors and elected officials in the region are open to suggestions and know that direct communication with citizens is crucial. Today's times require a new communication culture in order to be able to actually incorporate people's concerns into political decision-making processes.

“We are looking forward to a lively exchange and many exciting discussions,” emphasizes Witschas. This is the right way! If you have the opportunity, you shouldn't miss the date on August 14th. It's worth being actively involved and helping to shape the future of your own home!
