Competitions in Westlausitz: Your ideas are required until July 15th!

The Westlausitz region makes it talking again! On March 31, 2025, two exciting competitions were launched after a long break of two years, which address both creative talent and committed clubs. The sending period for both competitions runs until July 15, 2025, and all interested parties are cordially invited to submit their projects and works of art.

For everyone who comes up with a heart and hand for strong cooperation, there is the competition "with heart and hand - projects for strong cooperation". Above all, the clubs and voluntary initiatives are required to submit their projects or present planned ideas. The initiative is intended to promote the cohesion in the region in particular, network generations and create or maintain meeting rooms. Here, prize money from a total of up to 13,000 euros. It is important that the projects submitted are implemented in the municipalities of the LEADER region of Westlausitz, and an audience award is also awarded in which the audience can vote on the Saxon Citizens' Participation portal. for hobby photographers and creative minds

The second competition bears the inviting title "A look, a click - western lusatia through your lens". Hobby photographers are in demand here who can submit their best snapshots from the categories of nature and landscape as well as urban and village life. The most beautiful photos have the chance to be published in the Westlausitz calendar 2026. Here, too, there are attractive cash prizes to be won, a total of up to 3,000 euros. A maximum of one photo can be submitted per category and it should be taken in the Leader region of Westlausitz.

For particularly committed young people, there is another way in the context of the “act democratically” competition, the closing date of which is on December 15, 2025. Contributions can be submitted here that deal with topics such as history, school, municipality, environment and living together. The prices are very attractive: Among other things, up to 50 excellent contributions can win a trip to the Junify Democratic Festival in Berlin. There are also nominations for the German Engagement Award and individual grants for projects.
