Regina Kraushaar enthusiastically visits the construction site in Hoyerswerda!

On August 14, 2025, the city of Hoyerswerda received a high-profile visit. Minister of State Regina Kraushaar, responsible for infrastructure and regional development, took a look at the progress on the Smart Mobility Lab construction site in the Schwarzkollm industrial area. This interdisciplinary research center, which was launched by the Technical University of Dresden, is scheduled to be completed by 2026 and will focus on the latest technologies in automated driving, flying and robotics.

The project represents an important step in the context of structural change and urban development. In the presence of Mayor Torsten Ruban-Zeh and representatives of the city administration as well as the German Urban and Property Development Company mbH (DSK), the focus of the visit was on the presentation of current projects in Hoyerswerda. Kraushaar praised the structured and planned approach of those responsible for the city.

Discussion about current challenges

Furthermore, various challenges that are currently affecting Hoyerswerda were discussed in a constructive conversation. These include the need for living space, the recruitment of skilled workers and demographic change, which presents the city with major tasks. The minister emphasized the need to proactively address these issues in particular in order to sustainably ensure the quality of life in the city.

The participants saw an impressive sight when they visited the construction site. A 650-ton crane was busy lifting 200-ton steel structures. The construction progress is visible from afar and illustrates the speed at which the project is progressing.
