New center for e-bike batteries: Liofit relies on sustainability in Kamenz!

In Kamenz, investments will be made in the future! The groundbreaking ceremony for the new building of the Liofit GmbH company building took place today. Saxony's Minister of Economics Dirk Panter personally brought the funding notice to Managing Director Dr. Ralf Günther. It is a funding of 1.38 million euros, which is provided by the European Fund for regional development and state funds as part of the circular economy.

Liofit has positioned itself as a pioneer in the industry by extending the lifespan of e-bike batteries and at the same time setting new standards in the repair and preparation of lithium batteries. In this context, the company plans to build a progressive center for repair, disassembly and recycling of lithium batteries with a capacity of less than 1 kWh. This state -of -the -art facility will be built in the "Am Ochsenberg" industrial area and is scheduled to start operating in 2026

innovative technologies for the environment

The investment amount of around three million euros should not only benefit Liofit GmbH, but also make a positive contribution to the environment. The company will use renewable energies and implement energy -efficient processes in order to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The planned technologies include discharge flow from bicycle batteries, a heat pump with underfloor heating and a photovoltaic system.

It is particularly noteworthy that Liofit is the first company in Germany to combine production and recycling from batteries under one roof. With its own technology, the company is technologically leading in the repair of bicycle batteries and develops its own reading devices and AI solutions. The customers include both private individuals as well as bicycle dealers and battery producers.

outlook in the future

The importance of the project is also underlined by the new EU battery regulation, which will come into force from 2027. This regulation provides for repair for manufacturer -independent companies, which Liofit wants to use as an advantage. Despite fire damage in 2023, the company is currently working on an interim location, while all the necessary permits in relation to fire protection and official requirements have already been granted at the new location.

The resumption of the recycling in the new center is planned for 2026 and marks an important step towards an environmentally friendly future for e-bikes and its batteries. Liofit is not only an economic engine for Kamenz, but also a model in sustainable resource use.
