But what about the bicycle climate test? The ADFC conducts a survey on the situation of cycling and the bicycle climate in German cities every two years. The test took place in the period from September to November 2024 and over 215,000 cyclists from 1100 locations in Germany took part in the survey. As part of the test, the participants rated: Inside, bicycle friendliness in their cities and municipalities through a comprehensive questionnaire. The results are published, among other things, on the website of the ADFC , where an interactive card is also available.

What do the results show?

The results of the bicycle climate test are not only numbers on a sheet of paper, but also provide valuable feedback that are important for traffic planners: inside and political decision -makers. The city of Chemnitz can be guided by this data when improving the cycling infrastructure and can take targeted steps to optimize the bicycle climate. The test is therefore one of the largest surveys on the cycling climate worldwide and took place for the eleventh time in 2024. It is funded by the national cycling plan, supported by the Federal Ministry of Digital and Transport.

What should cyclists also pay attention to? According to the ADFC are cyclists and pedestrians unprotected roadmillers and have no crumple zone. This means that forward -looking driving and defensive behavior in road traffic are essential. Cyclists should always appear confidently, but at the same time the prudence and a high degree of attention should be exercised - especially near larger vehicles such as trucks or vans, which they often cannot see. Hand signs when turning and sufficient distance from other road users are an absolute must.

come by on June 24th, let the results of the ADFC bicycle climate test introduce you and bring your ideas and suggestions into the discussion! It is very important to us to make cycling in Chemnitz safer and more attractive.
