MINT-FIT CAMP: Chemnitz children discover the world of science!
In Chemnitz, it has once again been shown how important it is to inspire children for science and technology. From June 29 to July 4, 2025, the MINT FIT camp of the City of Chemnitz “Johanneum” will take place. The aim of the camp is to motivate young participants: on the inside through all kinds of exciting experiments and activities for topics of mathematics, computer science, natural sciences and technology (MINT). A highlight will be the Airbrush workshop, which takes place on Monday, June 30th under the direction of the master painter Fabrice Müller. In keeping with the motto "Chemnitz as Capital of Culture in Europe 2025", the children can give creative impulses here.
The MINT-FIT camp is aimed specifically at children who come from educational disadvantaged circumstances, especially from families with a low educational horizon or from structurally weak regions. The promotion of the project by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, with over 500,000 euros over a period of three years, shows how serious and sustainable the initiative is. The camp is supported by prominent partners such as the Technical University of Chemnitz and several institutions, including Don Bosco Saxony and the Chemnitz e. V. chemnitz.de reports that…

Participation in the MINT-FIT camp should also work beyond the week and sustainably promote interest in scientific topics. Pedagogical accompaniment by experienced employees is particularly important: inside the school country in the Küchwald. TU Chemnitz shows that ...
not only planned are workshops, but also other activities such as MINT clubs, experiment days and science shows. New this year is the MINT mobile, a van that ensures that MINT offers can also be brought to less accessible regions. In this way, access to educational offers is further facilitated and can reach many other children.
partnerships for a better future
The networks that result from this program strengthen cooperation between different educational institutions. In particular, attention is paid to the needs of children who grow up under difficult circumstances. "We are firmly convinced that every child should have the chance of good education, regardless of what environment it comes from," explains Bröll.
