Complete closure of Volgograder Allee: construction work causes diversions!

In Chemnitz it will be really turbulent on Volgograder Allee from July 14th up to and including August 3rd. The track crossing there on the Hutholz requires extensive track construction work by CVAG. During this period, Volgograd Avenue is completely closed. But that's not all: At the same time, the city of Chemnitz's traffic and civil engineering department is carrying out two more construction projects. This includes the renovation of the road surface between Volgopassage and Johannes-Dick-Straße as well as the construction of a crossing aid for pedestrians across Volgograder Allee at Max-Opitz-Straße. The diversions for both directions will take place via Stollberger Straße, Südring and Markersdorfer Straße before returning to Wolgograder Allee, as reported by chemnitz.de.

The track construction work will continue after the full closure on August 4th until August 15th, but at least while traffic will be maintained. This means that drivers should still expect restrictions. In particular, the construction site at the track crossing at Hutholz requires all road users to be vigilant.

More construction sites in Chemnitz

But that's just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to construction sites. A number of further projects affecting transport routes will start in Chemnitz next week. For example, Barbarossastrasse at the intersection with Leonhardtstrasse will be completely closed until November 29th. A diversion is planned for cars via Franz-Mehring-Straße, while trucks will be diverted via Limbacher Straße and Reichsstraße.

A look at the list of construction sites shows that other streets are also affected. There will be a complete closure of Adelsbergstrasse at house number 333a until November 15th, for which vehicles evading will be directed via Zschopauer Strasse and Georgistrasse. There will also be restrictions on Dresdner Straße until November 1st. Between Steinweg and Hohlweg you will then have to “drive slower”.

Current traffic information

Markersdorfer Straße will not be an easy journey from Monday onwards, as sewer work will be carried out in sections until November 15th. Rößlerstrasse between Annaberger Strasse and Paul-Gruner-Strasse is also affected; an alternate half-way closure with one-way traffic regulation in the direction of Paul-Gruner-Strasse is required until November 8th.
