Pasture path in Rottluff: Opened again after a year-long construction site!
On Monday, August 22, 2025, the city of Chemnitz is pleased about the successful completion of construction work on Weideweg in the Rottluff district. After more than a year of intensive work, the pasture path is now being reopened to traffic. The responsible institutions, the traffic and civil engineering department of the city of Chemnitz, the city's waste disposal company and eins energie in sachsen GmbH & Co. KG, have done a great job to complete this project on schedule.
From the end of August 2024 until today, the pasture path was completely closed in sections. During this time, a new rainwater drain was laid, as was a drinking water pipe. The installation of empty conduits for power cables and street lighting are also among the extensive works that were successfully carried out. Not only the roadway but also the sidewalk were rebuilt over a length of around 450 meters, accompanied by a modern street lighting system.
Construction projects at a glance
The total costs of the project amount to around 1.25 million euros, with ATS Chemnitz GmbH as the contractor. This measure is part of a more extensive urban development that should continue to progress in Chemnitz-Rottluff. The construction work is being carried out in several phases, which means that future traffic restrictions cannot be ruled out in order to further advance the city's plans. A new construction project is already imminent, with the next phase starting on Monday, September 2nd, where the pasture path will also be temporarily completely closed.
Particular attention is paid to the efficient and sustainable development of the city. In its projects, the company dba shows how urban development and sustainable construction can go hand in hand. This can also be seen in Chemnitz when you take a look at the current and planned construction projects. Beautifying the city and improving the infrastructure are essential for the quality of life of its citizens.
On the occasion of the full opening of the pasture path, residents and commuting road users are already looking forward to the relief in the daily traffic flow. A clear advantage for the entire area, which can now benefit from the latest technology and state-of-the-art architecture. However, this work is only part of the comprehensive urban development initiatives that are pending in the region.
The challenges of the construction sites and the diversions required will probably continue to influence mobility in the near future. It is all the better that another part of the extensive infrastructure projects in Chemnitz has now been successfully completed.
Further information on current construction projects in Chemnitz can be found on the dba platform, where numerous major urban development projects have already been documented. It remains exciting to see what the future holds, especially with the upcoming construction projects in Rottluff, which are scheduled to begin in September.
