Dresden is starting three new self-help groups for those affected and their relatives

Today there is exciting news from the world of self-help groups in Dresden. As part of the comprehensive offer of the Contact and Information Point (KISS) Three new self-help groups have now been created, each of which covers important topics and offers space for exchange and support.

With a total of around 250 self-help groups under one roof, KISS is a central contact point for all those looking for support in various life situations. New additions include groups on addiction and mental health, childhood rheumatism and Klinefelter syndrome.

Addiction and mental health

The “Addiction and Mental Health” group invites all those affected to meet every two weeks in the Putjatinhaus at Meußlitzer Straße 83. The focus here is not only on ensuring abstinence, but also on dealing with mental illnesses that often go hand in hand with alcohol addiction. Topics such as relapse prevention and problem solving are discussed and mutual exchange is a central element of the meetings. If you are interested, you can send an email to shg-putjatinhaus@web.de turn around.

Meeting point for children's rheumatism

A particularly important area is the “Children's Rheumatism Meeting Point”, which takes care of the needs of over 13,000 children and young people in Germany who suffer from rheumatism. Around 1,300 children become ill every year. Signs of this are often that the children play less and become louder or are simply quieter. While the exact causes of the autoimmune disease remain unclear, it is important to seek professional support early on. The group organizes regular meetings to exchange ideas and a WhatsApp group for networking. Anyone interested can contact Solveig Herschel at dresden@kinderrheuma.com contact or the informative website children's rheumatism.com visit.

Klinefelter syndrome

Another new offering concerns Klinefelter syndrome. The association 47xxy Klinefelter Syndrome e.V. would like to support those affected and their relatives. Children with this anomaly, which can lead to a lack of testosterone, often require special measures such as occupational therapy. A platform is created here through meetings, weekend events and even digital conversations to exchange experiences. Those interested can contact by email 47xxy-klinefelter-ost@47xxy-klinefelter.de contact or the website 47xxy-klinefelter.de visit.

KISS itself continues to offer comprehensive consulting services on the topic of self-help. It supports the establishment of new groups and helps to promote existing groups in their activities. If you would like to find out more about the options, please call 0351-4884999 or by email kiss@dresden.de turn around. Office hours are Mondays and Fridays by appointment and Tuesdays and Thursdays at the times specified.

These initiatives show that Dresden really has something to offer when it comes to connecting people with each other and supporting them on their journey. The self-help groups not only offer professional information, but also a network of like-minded people who can strengthen each other.
