Dresden's sports facilities before new building renovations: Big changes are coming!

The sports infrastructure in Dresden is facing important changes. The Aachener Straße sports facility in Trachau is particularly impressive: a whopping 15 football teams from SG Motor Trachenberge train here. But the burden is high, especially in the winter months. Due to its location in a residential area, structural changes or capacity expansions are not possible here. For this reason, the sports facility on Neuländer Straße should provide relief in the future dresden.de reported.

But what awaits athletes on Neuländer Straße? The street there is currently being renovated and a new building called Industriesammler Nord is being built. The actual expansion of the sports facility on Neuländer Straße cannot begin until 2028 at the earliest. The planning work should be initiated by the end of 2025. Plans include converting the large grass playing field into a modern synthetic turf pitch and constructing a two-story functional building. Informal sports facilities such as a beach volleyball court, a basketball court, two running tracks and a cross track are also provided.

Financial aspects and future prospects

Over 220,000 euros have been set aside for the draft planning in the budget accompanying resolution V0068/24. In total, costs are estimated to be around 2.5 million euros. Something is also happening on Bobestraße: the former Geibelstraße sports facility, now Bobestraße sports facility, is being used by SV Dresden Neustadt 1950 e. V. used. There is a large grass playing field, a running track and a small artificial turf field with floodlights. However, this artificial turf pitch is heavily worn and will be renovated next year at a cost of 150,000 euros - an important measure for the athletes over the course of the season.

A long-term renovation and expansion of the functional building is also planned, which will include a bowling alley and a sports casino. Another highlight of Dresden's sports facilities is the Wurzener Straße sports facility, home of women's football at 1. FFC Fortuna Dresden. With over 200 active players, this club is the largest girls' and women's soccer club in Saxony. The sports facility will be equipped with a new floodlight system that will improve the old lighting conditions. Construction of the new LED floodlight system will begin in the first quarter of 2026, with construction costs of around 120,000 euros.

Optimization of training conditions

Last but not least, the Eisenberger Straße sports facility is in the starting blocks for changes. This is run by TSV Rotation Dresden 1990 e. V. and includes a large grass playing field with a running track and three tennis courts. Particularly exciting: The tennis court is to be converted into a large artificial turf playing field in 2026, with a budget of 710,000 euros that has already been secured. Together with a planned beach volleyball court in the entrance area, the measure aims to significantly improve training and competition conditions.

With these developments, the future looks positive for Dresden athletes. Improving sports infrastructure plays a crucial role in promoting sports in the region, thereby contributing to health and community. Let’s stay excited to see what the coming years will bring!
