Art Prize 2025: Sinfonietta Dresden inspires with 10,000 euros
What kind of feast of the arts is imminent! On Monday, June 23, 2025, in the festive framework of the Festival House Hellerau - European Center of the Arts The art prize of the state capital Dresden. Mayor Dirk Hilbert will have the honor of excluding the main prize of 10,000 euros and two further funding prices.
This year the art prize goes to the Sinfonietta Dresden , a self -organized chamber orchestra that draws attention to itself with over 100 premieres and innovative concert series. The orchestra particularly brings works from Eastern Europe and the partner cities in Dresden, and thus contributes significantly to the city's cultural diversity. On the occasion of the award ceremony, these two compositional star hours are presented: "Centrifuga" by Doina Rotarus and "Damar" by Darija Andovskas, under the direction of Judith Kubitz with around 20 musicians.

The Kunstverein is recognized for its curatorial profile and its commitment in the promotion of young international contemporary art. The city of Dresden has been awarding the art prize annually since 1993 and up to two funding prices with the aim of supporting the local art scene and promoting creative talents. With an increase in prize money, which was decided in November 2024, the art prize is increased from 7,000 euros to 10,000 euros. This underlines the city's commitment to its art scene and the promotion of prospective artists.
By cooperation with the Arras Foundation , the award winners can also benefit from scholarships of 2,500 euros each. By October 31, 2024, 51 suggestions for the awards were submitted, which shows that a living and active art scene blooms in Dresden.
