What's happening in Elsterheide? The local council has currently taken a step towards improving the tourist infrastructure at Lake Geierswalde. On June 24, 2025, the second draft of the development plan “Touristic infrastructure on the eastern shore of Lake Geierswalde” was unanimously approved. This draft, dated June 16, 2025, aims to legally secure the beach design and other facilities in the Geierswalde district. The need for an attractive waterfront area is obvious - many citizens are interested in such a development.

What's next? The public display of the draft for all interested parties will take place from August 4th to September 5th, 2025 in accordance with Section 3 Paragraph 2 of the BauGB. The documents can be viewed in the Elsterheide municipal administration, Am Anger 36, Bergen district, in room 1.3 during the following office hours:

  • Dienstag: 08.00 bis 12.00 Uhr und 13.00 bis 18.00 Uhr
  • Donnerstag: 08.00 bis 12.00 Uhr und 13.00 bis 15.30 Uhr
  • Freitag: 08.00 bis 11.30 Uhr

A look at the plans

The main focus of the development plan is to create an attractive beach landscape. This includes not only the design of the beach, but also important facilities such as sanitary facilities and lounges. This will significantly increase the attractiveness of Lake Geierswalde as a resort and at the same time provide the region with an enormous tourist advantage.

As is important in this day and age, public participation is important. Those responsible have a good hand in planning, because the creation of such a resort not only appeals to locals, but also attracts tourists to the region

.

For anyone interested in the details of the project, engaging with the public display is an excellent opportunity to actively participate in shaping their environment. Elsterheide reports that the intensive planning shows how important local tourism development is.
