The anticipation is already tangible! On Thursday, June 26th, a very special event will take place in the Saxon Railway Museum Hilbersdorf: the reading and music performance "Leselust Nachleese - Next Stock: Europe" with the Czech author Jaroslav Rudiš and the musician Hans Narva. It starts from 6 p.m. and admission is 8 euros for everyone else, but students: inside and students can take part in free. The tickets are available at the box office. If you want to be spoiled by culturally and musically, you should never miss this appointment!
Jaroslav Rudiš, who comes from a family of railroads, has made a name for himself as a writer and musician. His texts often act on train trips, dining cars and the experiences in station bars. He is supported by Hans Narva, a talented composer, singer and multi-instrumentalist, who musically brings Rudiš 'texts to life. This event is not only a highlight in the Chemnitz cultural calendar, but also part of the literary days "Leselust Goes Europe", which belong to the Capital of Culture in Europe in 2025
a contribution to European culture
Chemnitz has honestly earned the title of the European Capital of Culture in 2025. The city becomes part of a fascinating European border area, which is characterized by (post) socialism, war, flight and mining culture. The railroad plays a central role and connects not only cities in Germany, but also in the Czech Republic, Poland and Ukraine. This cultural networking is to be promoted by the various events that take place under the motto "Leselust goes Europe".
The other planned activities include double readings with literary workers from Germany, the Czech Republic and Poland, which appeal to important topics such as the current war experiences in Ukraine. There will also be a writing workshop and various creative offers for schools that integrate and promote the Chemnitz city society. Bridges are also beaten to Breslau/Wrocław (Capital of Culture 2016) and Budweis/České Budějovice (Capital of Culture 2028).
