Stephan Heym and Zwickau: Artful exhibitions in the Tietz!
In the coming month, visitors to the Tietz in Chemnitz awaits two exciting exhibitions that will appeal to both art and historical lovers. The first exhibition "Stephan Heym will discover. Graphic Novels to Stefan Heym" will open on September 4th at 7 p.m. This revolves around the works of the important authors, who played a role not only in literature, but also in the political landscape. As part of the vernissage, visitors can interact with the illustrations of pupils: interior, because they dealt with the topics of Heyms work and created their own visual interpretations. These are presented together with the original works in the exhibition halls. The Presença of the creators of the graphic novel "The Seven Life of Stefan Heym", Gerald Richter and Marian Kretschmer, also promises exciting discussions. They are supported by Ulrike Uhlig by the Stefan Heym Society during a tour that will take all participants with them.
The exhibition will be shown by December 19, 2025 and includes the awards of the two graphic artists who received the Stefan Heym Promotion Prize in 2021 and 2024. Twelve educational institutions from Chemnitz and Central Saxony participate in this project, which promotes the exchange and creativity of the students: further. A look at the lovable Zwickau
But that's not all: On September 18, the second exhibition entitled "Levention-Life Zwickau-A Colorful City in Black and White Photographs will be opened. This shows the work of the Berlin stage designer Katharina John. Visitors take their photographs on a journey through Zwickau and show the city in a completely different light-namely in analog black and white technology. The pictures not only tell the history of the city, but also offer deeper insights into the emotional landscape of Zwickaus. The opening is accompanied by a laudation by the cultural journalist Matthias Spa.
Which cultural event could fit better in the European Capital of Culture than this? The exhibition will open from 6 p.m. in the VHS gallery in the Tietz. Participation is also free of charge here, but registration is recommended to secure a place.
