Study Tuesday: Chemnitz offers great offers for students!
Things are particularly lively in Chemnitz at the moment! Since July 29th, the city center has created a new crowd puller for young people with “Studi Tuesday”. The local restaurateurs along Inner Klosterstrasse and Jakobikirchplatz are offering exclusive offers for students on this special day. Whether it's a free drink with every main course, two cocktails for the price of one or a tempting 20 percent discount on your favorite dish - the variety of offers leaves nothing to be desired. As the city of Chemnitz underlines in a recent announcement, this concept is intended to establish the city as a lively place for exchange, encounters and enjoyment, which particularly attracts young people.
The “Studi Tuesday” initiative emerged from a cooperation between the Economics Department of the City of Chemnitz, Initiative Chemnitz City, Chemnitz University of Technology and the site coordination Rathaus Passage and Rosenhof. A coherent network that aims to make Tuesday an indispensable highlight for the student body. So far, seven catering establishments have already taken part with individual offers. It is to be hoped that many more restaurateurs, retailers and actors in the city center will join in and make the offering even more diverse.
A look at the needs of students
But what do students actually care about apart from culinary temptations? In a comprehensive study on the living situation of students, Jürgen Gries, Vincenz Leuschner and Gerhard Wenzke gained in-depth insights into the topics of housing, financial resources and social relationships. The study is based on a representative survey of 733 students majoring in social work and special education - and the findings are revealing.
The study, which was published under the title “Students' Lives”, covers aspects such as the living and financial situation, leisure behavior and even values as well as the desire to have children. Scientists and educational institutions can benefit from the results to better understand and improve the lives of students. This is particularly relevant because the demands on the young generation are high and suitable solutions are needed to ensure a positive study period.
If you combine the culinary offerings of “Studi Tuesday” with the findings from the study, it becomes clear how important it is to create not only delicious food, but also a supportive environment for students. A city that listens to its young residents and acts – that is Chemnitz!
Overall, “Studi Tuesday” makes you want more and shows how city life and everyday university life can flow together harmoniously. Tuesday could perhaps soon become a trend not only in Chemnitz, but also in other cities.
