Auerhammer outdoor pool: Early swimming weekend is coming!
The swimming season in the Auerhammer outdoor pool is coming to an end. On Saturday, August 30, 2025, due to the weather conditions, it will be “Abbaden” in the popular “Langbad”, which has already attracted 6,039 bathers this year. Compared to the previous year, when almost 10,000 visitors visited the outdoor pool, this reflects the decline. The opening hours on the last day of swimming are planned from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., but of course this depends on the whims of the weather, such as aue-badschlema.de reported.
On Sunday, August 31st, both the outdoor pool and the indoor swimming pool will remain closed. From Monday, September 1st, the swimming pool will be closed to general visitors due to school and club swimming; however, the sauna remains open. Additional opening times for the swimming pool are being planned for the period after the October holidays, which will be announced soon.
Visitor records and temperatures
It's not just the farewell preparations that are causing excitement, this year's number of visitors to the outdoor pool is also drawing attention. On July 2, 2025, the Auerhammer outdoor pool recorded a record number of visitors with almost 450 bathers on a single day Blick.de revealed. On normal summer days there are an average of 200 guests enjoying the sunny hours at the edge of the pool.
The water is currently perfect for swimming with a pleasant temperature of 23 to 24 degrees Celsius. Due to high demand, the city of Aue adjusted its opening hours during the holidays; The outdoor pool is now open daily from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. The prices are also moderate:

A look into the future
The Auerhammer outdoor pool, which was opened in 1935 as the “works pool” of the F.A. Lange Metallwerke A.G. was opened, has established itself as a municipal swimming pool since the closure of the municipal outdoor swimming pool on Hakenkrümme. This shows that tradition and modernity are closely linked here. The construction time of the outdoor pool was only three and a half months, and the pool is an impressive 95 meters long and 22 meters wide, with a capacity of 4,000 cubic meters of water.
For the 2025 outdoor swimming season, the German Society for the Bathing Industry (DGfdB) is planning a survey to gain insights into the current challenges and developments of outdoor swimming pools. Participants can complete the survey until September 30th to receive a compact DGfdB short report which summarizes the most important findings.
Although the 2025 summer season is coming to an end, interest in the Auerhammer outdoor pool remains high and there is certainly a lot of reason to look forward to the next swimming seasons!
